Greetings from Ohio y’all. Here’s a mixtape that’s been getting quite a bit of recognition lately around these parts. This is Cal Scruby (@SCRUbeats), Cincinnati Ohio’s own and Engineering/Writing student here at Ohio State in Columbus. He’s recently opened for J. Cole and will be performing before Cleveland’s Chip tha Ripper today. Not only can Cal flow, he’s incredibly witty and a true wordsmith.

Below you can preview and you can download the whole tape (which includes three additional worthwhile songs) on DatPiff, where it scored a 5 star rating: http://www.datpiff.com/Cal-Scruby-Best-Foot-Forward-mixtape.286292.html

Highlights: Best Foot Forward, The Burn Down (Outro), Back to the City, By Myself & Adult Swim (see Datpiff^) fuck it it’s all good.

Hey everybody. It’s been a minute so I wanted to share some tunes with you. We’ve been having issues with our download hosting if you haven’t noticed, so hopefully we get it worked out soon. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this killer mixtape from hip hop up-and-comer Logic.

While I’m not the biggest hip hop fan and far from an expert, I can tell you that a tape this good shouldn’t be free. There’s samples from Nas, Notorious B.I.G., Frank Sinatra and Justice to go with some really great beats from under the radar producers 6ix and C-Sick. Look out for Logic, he’s got the potential to take the music world by storm.

I have to say, this post is long overdue.  I was introduced to the homegrown Michigan artist Marcutio quite some time ago, but he is worth your full attention right now.  The Kalamazoo, MI based producer/DJ is the definition of versatile, throwing down everything from funky dance beats to bass filled electro that hits all the right wavelengths.  Check out and download one of my favorite tracks below, and make sure to spend a minute on his Soundcloud and check the website for more killer tracks:

Cee Roo – Sunshine of Your Love (ft. Ella Fitzgerald) (Marcutio Remix)

Hey everybody. It has come to my attention that our page loads slowly for some of you. Until I can fix it, the best way to load pages quickly is to head over to our Facebook and like our page where you can easily open new posts one at a time as they flow in. Not trying to shamelessly self-promote, but I want you to be able to enjoy tunes in the fastest, most convenient way possible.
Now that business is taken care of, let’s jam.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

SebastiAn – Embody || Much to my chagrin, I’ve only recently discovered the phenomenon that is SebastiAn. Mat Zo – Superman || I’m going to keep sharing my collection of Mat Zo with you because the dude is just that good. If you look around the blogs you’ll see words like genius, master, most promising, and phenom to describe him and I really agree. Rusko – Skanker || Rusko’s most recent album Songs was released on Mad Decent records last week. Getting back to the roots of dubstep with a bunch of reggae inspired vocal samples and melodic bass. This is the sound I most identify with the dubstep that originally caught my ear. It’s much more listenable (outside of a dark room full of people) in this form.
